AllMusic Review by

Classic biguine was a manically charming dance style with a front line consisting of clarinet and trombone. Clarinetist and bandleader Stellio was the great name of between-the-wars biguine, a major composer and leader of the most popular and influential band of the era, both in Paris and back in the islands. These biguines, mazurkas, and so forth, cover his prime, from the late '20s to late '30s. This is a bedrock-indispensable part of any Caribbean -- hell, just plain any -- collection. (70:09)
