Paul Brogden's first full-length album as P.O.B., Essence showcases his approach to progressive house. Highlights include "Luna," a track featuring Louise De Fraine on vocals and DJ Boyd assisting in the production, and also "Today," another track featuring De Fraine's vocals, this time, however, with Taylor assisting in the production. The song "Waah!" is another noteworthy track, already having been featured on Sasha & Digweed's Communicate album. Essence should satisfy anyone looking for a hearty dose of Brogden's tracks. There's plenty to devour here. Those without a large appetite may find this collection to be a bit monotonous and, ultimately, too much of the same thing. As great as Brogden's production is, he's a little short on ideas. Too often he makes tracks that sound awfully similar to one another.
