Anyone familiar with the men behind Masterplan will know exactly what to expect from this five-song EP: typical, '90s-flavored Germanic power metal along the lines of their former bands, Helloween, Ark, and Iron Savior. They do, however, throw in a small twist, opting to avoid the all-out thrash metal drumming common to their previous groups for a more mid-paced, straightforward hard rock approach, almost bordering on metallic AOR. Mixing a few tracks later featured on their proper debut with album leftovers and a note-perfect cover of Led Zeppelin's "Black Dog" (just to prove they can pull it off), Enlighten Me will please all serious fans of melodic Euro-metal.
