The delightful older popular music of Venezuela and Ecuador -- particularly in its elegant older forms -- is particularly hard to find. Jaramillo, an Ecuadorian by birth who lived many years in Venezuela, was a fine singer whose backings included trios led by harp, guitar and occasional accordion (lots of elegant accordion here, plus some harp-leads). This enchanting deleted LP consists of boleros and valses. But the treatment makes them a particularly satisfactory mix of pan-Latin and local.
