Electrecord 2000 is an international summit of sorts bringing together an array of new-school electro producers, including Artificial Materials (Ersatz Audio), Synapse (Serotonin), Invisible Man (Sockett), and Third Electric (Electrecord). Although confusingly bearing the same title as the 1996 Electrecord label compilation, Electrecord 2000 contains entirely new tracks, only a pair of which actually derive from the Electrecord label. This is off-the-beaten-track stuff, with a few tracks following up on some not-often-traveled tangents of the old school, from new wave-esque two-beat breaks and broadside basslines to lazy, almost downtempo gear. Although there's nary a bad cut, comp-stealers include Synapse's Zapp-esque "Bring On the Funk" and Klys Tron's blazing "Elastiche."
