AllMusic Review by

These two Englishmen have thematized Earthscapes around the myriad forms of nature. Trevor Nightingale plays keyboards and percussion and Will Thomson plays recorders, guitars, tin whistles, and keyboards, as well as handling the drum programming, whilst sax, bass, and flute and the wordless vocalizing of Leanne Carroll are added by the guest musicians. The scope of this album is implied by its song titles: from the pastoral prettiness of "Gentle Breeze" or "Tranquility" to the chilly atmospherics of "Wasteland"; from the dramatic neo-primitive rhythms of "Pagan Rite" and "Rhythm Dance" to the introspective spaciness of "Heavenly Bodies." Earthscapes takes the listener on a journey through varied moods and sonic terrains. Uniting it all is the ever-present synthesizer, with its shimmering tones, and the fluidity with which the supporting instruments join the mix.
