Spiritual music does not get any deeper than Earth Ascending. Marina Raye has often been called "the feminine voice of the Native American flute." She draws her inspiration from the Earth, her heart, her training (classical flute and piano), and her heritage (South African). These beautiful melodies and deep atmospheres are magnificent, and the gentle soundscapes are perfect for prayer and meditation routines. The percussion is subtle; the flutes dominate and their sounds give the disc a space music feel. The individual compositions stand alone as single entities and they are interwoven to stand as one soundscape. This disc will appeal to fans of Coyote Oldman, R. Carlos Nakai, Douglas Spotted Eagle, and Mary Youngblood. For fans of Native American new age music, this is essential. For casual new age fans, it is important.
