Based in the southern United States, this jazz-rock quintet dishes out the goods in resplendent fashion amidst its upfront and no-nonsense mode of execution. Marked by swarming Hammond B-3 organ cadenzas, powerful rhythms, and bone-crunching guitars, the musicians also inject memorable twists and affecting hooks into their repertoire. The artists' groove-oriented demeanor rings loud and clear along with elements of a jam band approach. In fact, the music sparks notions of partaking in an outdoor music fest, where the audience would be cavorting or dancing in the aisles. And while Cookout tears it up on several occasions, the group's robust delivery and climactically devised arrangements augment the overall sound. Dashes of reverb and some shrewd audio processing enhance the already wide-ranging scope, yet it's the engaging compositions that set this outfit apart from many of its peers. Hence, Ear Fashion equates with an immensely entertaining listening experience. Recommended.
