This was not Muhal Richard Abrams session, but Anthony Braxton's, and was issued on Arista under his name. The duo teamed for intriguing, sometimes intense and other times more introspective performances on material ranging from Braxton's numerical compositions to their unusual version of "Maple Leaf Rag." Braxton played alto and soprano saxophones, plus contrabass clarinet and sax and standard clarinet, while Abrams concentrated on piano and added everything from bop riffs to stride accents, ragtime and blues lines.
