AllMusic Review by

Dubai Lounge tries to establish a sophisticated air with its cover art, a shot of the city's sleek and cosmopolitan Burj el Arab hotel taken as dusk settles over the Persian Gulf. But the building's grace and bold design don't translate to the music, which is pretty generic even for lounge compilations. Dragon Lounge integrates Middle Eastern instrumentation into the soft beats of "Mahasamadhi," but outside of that the set's dominated by lightweight tracks hovering lazily between new age and downtempo. The sound works in the case of Chillwalker's "Light of God" or In Credo's "Sea of Eden" -- both are introspective, nearly new age numbers that linger on extended notes -- but Dubai Lounge is interchangeable with any of the thousands of "chill" or "lounge" compilations out there. (That three of its contributors derive their name from the word "chill" isn't a good sign.)
