A peculiar mix of traditional Irish tunes and original material backed by Tempest, Drunken Angel lacks both musical and thematic consistency. The Irish numbers take on either Celtic-rock or middle-of-the-road identities while Michael Longcor's own pieces, which deal with early American history and futuristic foolishness, alternate between second-rate country and lounge-folk. Popular within West coast "filk" circles, Longcor offers very little to the world outside.
