Dreaming Review

by MacKenzie Wilson

Aurora UK mixes adult contemporary sounds inside dance music on its full-length debut, Dreaming. DJ/producers Simon Greenaway and Sacha Collisson craft infectious dance loops for a stylish presentation. Featuring velvet-like vocalist Lizzy Pattinson, Dreaming is a mesmerizing package of club hits and slick vocal ambience. They tinkered with Duran Duran's "Ordinary World" for their own romance in 2002. With Naimee Coleman's angelic vocals, the cut was a massive club hit across the globe. Ex-Shakespear's Sister songstress Marcella Detroit guests on the ethereal acoustic beauty of "To Die For," while "If You Could Read My Mind" is an album highlight. Aside from the guest vocalists and Pattinson's warm performance, Aurora UK doesn't stick to the dance formula entirely. Dreaming is a radio pop-friendly effort with basic guitars, string arrangements, and programmed samples. It's simple and nothing more.
