This solo release from one third of the Icelandic experimental trio Stilluppsteypa is released here on the Mille Plateaux offshoot label Ritornell. There is certainly no shortage of their post-punk electro-acoustic music, with releases on Meme, Ritornell, and Erstwhile cropping up in the year 2000/2001, and the endorsement of Thurston Moore benefited their profile extraordinarily. On first listen, hearing a series of blips and glitches arranged into a latticework of minimal noise, one might wonder what all the fuss is about being that this record is excruciatingly sterile in its fastidious attention to avant-garde formalities. There are certainly moments of intriguing juxtaposition of digitally processed sounds and effect that can at times create a chilling dark ambient music, which when given repeated listens can unfold artful details in its reduced orchestration.
