Why anyone would want anything to do with something like this -- artist, label, and consumer alike -- is anyone's guess. Released by K-Tel, Disco Inferno: The Seventies is not just another compilation of chart-topping disco singles. As indicated in the small-font print on the back of the disc, "...all tracks are re-recordings by the original artist or one or more members of the original group." It should come as no surprise that these new versions of Andrea True Connection's "More, More, More," Gloria Gaynor's "Never Can Say Goodbye," George McRae's "Rock Your Baby," Anita Ward's "Ring My Bell," and 12 others are inferior to the original versions that are familiar. Avoid.
