AllMusic Review by

Music for Vampires weaves a fine web of vocal and instrumental beauty with that ominous sense of mystery and foreboding associated with one of mankind's most enduring supernatural myths. Although clocking in a bit briefly at about 45 minutes, the selections play best as one thematic movement, languid and misty, beautiful but sad. The lineup features many of the regular issue Goth tragedians, including Bauhaus ("Hollow Hills") and alumnus Peter Murphy (obscure but gorgeous single B-side "Wish"), doomed German chanteuse Nico ("My Funny Valentine"), Cocteau Twins ("Domino"), Love and Rockets (instrumental "Saudade"), and Dead Can Dance (the cheery "In the Kingdom of the Blind the One-Eyes Are Kings"), but all are subordinate to continuity of concept and mood.
