AllMusic Review by

The Scottish film Dear Frankie is about a single mother of a deaf child who has run away from her husband but tells her son that his father is off on a ship, and even writes fictitious letters to maintain the fantasy. For his score to such an intimate drama, composer Alex Heffes constructs a lot of quiet, pretty melodic cues dominated by solo piano passages, and the soundtrack adds a few gentle folk-rock tunes by Clarksville, Obi, and Jesse Harris. Attractive on its own terms, the music helps set the film's tone and the soundtrack album makes for an excellent souvenir of the moviegoing experience.
