AllMusic Review by

An interesting four-track EP from the enigmatic Emperor Penguin, Damn features all the focused quirks you've come to expect from the Chicago duo. From the thumping vocoder-dominated "Disco Party in the Castle of Love (Tonight)," a longtime staple of their live shows, to the bluesy laid-back groove of "Wizard Dude," Emperor Penguin provides experimentation that finds a happy medium between overreaching ambitiousness and pedestrian recycling. Alternately ominous and expansive, the driving Gary Numan-inspired "Echoes of Pumford" fits nicely beside the deep, almost dub-reggae, groove of "Neighborhood Watch (We Call Police)," displaying an eclecticism that transcends the occasional lack of variation in their arrangements.
