On their debut EP, the Athens, GA-based rock quartet Twin Tigers turn out a short collection of lo-fi performances in a format of two guitars, bass, and drums and a style that goes back to the days of the Velvet Underground and the Stooges with their rudimentary hard rock approach. Later bands like the Jesus and Mary Chain also come to mind as the musicians bash out repetitive riffs and driving beats to accompany Matthew Rain's expressive vocals. It's a sound that forms a bedrock for rock & roll and marks Twin Tigers as carriers of a musical tradition, the primitive sound quality only reinforcing the feel of a group rediscovering the possibilities of basic garage rock music.
