It seems that Sony BMG's Country series is designed to provide a well-rounded introduction to noteworthy artists from the genre who've had successful careers. Gretchen Wilson's star burned briefly while at Sony, but it burned bright and hot and broke new ground: she paved the way for many of the women who came after he -- including Miranda Lambert -- with hits like "Redneck Woman," "Here for the Party," and "Homewrecker." This volume, unfortunately, does not go as deep as Sony's Playlist compilation, which includes all of her hits for the label, but it is a satisfactory introduction for the price.
