CORAZON DE ORO by David Marez is a mix of something old and something new. The old reminds fans of “La Voz de Oro"--as Marez has come to be known--why they are fans, while the new solidifies Marez as the golden voice of Tejano music. The songs aren’t as accordion-heavy as traditional norteño music, but rather emphasize a 1920s Big Band/Texas Swing quality. Cumbia lovers will be thrilled to find “Dimelo Amor” here, a slower-tempo homage to trad Colombian music.
