Torben Snekkestad presents 11 originals in this trio date with pianist Jon Balke and bassist Jonas Westergaard. Alternating between several saxophones and clarinet from one track to the next, many of his works began dramatically and often with an eerie flavor, often sounding as if the trio is playing a stripped-down sketch for a movie soundtrack, while showing the influence of 20th century composer Arnold Schoenberg. Without any liner notes, it is impossible to make any sense of the various titles, while the artist's thoughts would be a welcome addition to this release. Fans of modern creative jazz should enjoy this studio session, though none of the individual compositions leaves much of a lasting impression.
