AllMusic Review by

In 1939 Charlie Barnet, after several years of struggling and cutting a variety of erratic recordings, found his sound. His orchestra, featuring trumpeter Bobby Burnet and the leader's tenor, quickly became one of the better swing bands of the era. This second of six two-fers that reissue all of Barnet's Bluebird recordings has among its many highlights "Knockin' at the Famous Door," "The Gal from Joe's," "Jump Session," "Scotch and Soda," "Miss Annabelle Lee," "I Never Knew" and the band's big hit, "Cherokee."
