AllMusic Review by

Commonplace's self-titled album is a solid collection of driving rock songs, arranged with a number of dark, orchestrated touches and forceful female vocals which harken back to the early punk days of Siouxsie and the Banshees, and the more gothic end of post-punk and new wave in general. At its best (i.e., when the band's songwriting is effective), this sound calls up images of some forgotten British band from the late '80s -- the album's occasional falterings tend to sound amateurish and overblown, but the majority is quite nice.
