The revved-up opening notes are reminiscent of Ray Lynch, but the essence of Coming Together is more austere, as Tademitsu Saito combines the power of Asian sound healing techniques with western musical rhythms and musicians. Featured are Teja Bell, Darol Anger and Paul McCandless, each of whom plays on a couple of tracks amidst Saito's plaintive piano and synth, also heard in a solo context. Jazz, classical, new age and world music elements combine at different times in this coming together of styles, cultures and musicians. Having released nine CDs in Japan, Saito is now bringing his healing music to a greater audience.
