AllMusic Review by

This early Music Masters release features drummer Louie Bellson on six big-band numbers (with some fine trumpet solos by Brian O'Flaherty) and four songs on which he heads a sextet that includes tenorman Ted Nash, trumpeter Glenn Drewes and pianist Derek Smith. Other than three originals, the emphasis throughout is on modernized versions of swing standards, including "It Don't Mean a Thing" (which has a tenor battle by Nash and Ken Hitchcock), "Flyin' Home," and Bellson's showcase on "Caravan." Swinging music.
