QuickBand has become well known and liked for their efforts in the production of DVD-based magazines compiling short films (the Short series) and music pieces (the Circuit series). They seem, however, to have had a misfire with this particular Circuit release; the main interview sections (with E of the Eels, Michael Penn, Arling & Cameron, and Supergrass, who have a session with a psychic) are uninspiring and tedious, the performances in the "breakthrough" section are harsh and grating, and the "soundtrack" section is forgettable. The "front row" section presents the only real interest of the production, giving the viewer a live performance by a combined Cracker/Camper Van Beethoven lineup, as well as a live clip of Air performing "Dirty Trip." The Air section also includes a Mike Mills-directed video. There are alternate tracks throughout , some with background material, others providing interviews with artists. That the release is quite mediocre comes as a surprise, given QuickBand's usual sterling work.
