AllMusic Review by

CELEBRATE 2000 has been designed to serve as the soundtrack to New Year's Eve festivities for the millennium. However, this timeless collection of waltzes is the perfect accompaniment for any occasion.

The waltz is a dance with close to three hundred years of tradition, and most listeners will be familiar with at least a few of these selections. From Strauss's 'The Blue Danube' to Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" from 'The Nutcracker,' the dance has become a staple of light classical. This album is rich with selections of perennial beauty.

Remastered from sessions originally recorded between 1958-1961, the album dates from the height of Felix Slatkin's popularity. His work with the Hollywood Bowl Symphony Orchestra always caused a stir. Even after all this time, the reason for its appeal--among classical aficionados and others--is still readily apparent.
