AllMusic Review by

Calling of Your Heart is pure pop-based rock music and makes no pretense to being anything but. This 16-track opus gives more than just a few sincere nods of appreciation to pioneers on the mellower side of the spectrum (like Simon & Garfunkel) and to the more edgier, guitar-based album-oriented rock of groups like the Outfield and Loverboy. While there is an over reliance on heavy-handed beats and simplistic hooks, Arizona's Jenerik knows that these are the basic dynamics that make for good pop music. The band uses this understanding to their advantage by infusing their songs with plenty of catchy chords and melodies. It's also too easy to note the Brit-pop influence in "Can't Find My Way Back Home" and "Pictures in Time," wherein the passing of time and the changes that come along with it are mulled over poetically. Calling of Your Heart doesn't set any new standards in the pop/rock genre, but within this independently released debut, there are some definite glimpses of artistic potential.
