The debut album from this Arlington, VA, three-piece is a good collection of guitar-driven indie rock. The songs are tight, melodic, and occasionally dreamy compositions highlighted by the interplay of the two guitarists of the band, Andy Fogle and Jeffrey McKinney. A rainy-day dreaminess is present in some of the slower tracks, especially evident (in the song "Draft") by the presence of an actual audio clip of a rainy day. Vocals are used sparsely, performed with a blankness by Fogle, which suggests he was concentrating more on playing at the time. The up-tempo tracks keep the melodic feel, adding a more propulsive quality to offset the lack of the soporific quality found on the slower songs. This band has made a fine first statement, but one wonders whether, on successive releases, they can keep up the quality of songwriting and playing without feeling the need to add more pop elements.
