AllMusic Review by

This live set from 1969 is quite intriguing, for it features the lyrical New Orleans clarinetist Albert Burbank with a high-powered trad band that has exciting solos from trumpeter Jack Fine, trombonist George Stevenson, and Noel Kaletsky (mostly on tenor). Although producer Big Bill Bissonnette's unusual liner notes are not at all complementary to Fine or Stevenson (he feels that Burbank was unfairly overshadowed), the truth is that Burbank fares quite well in this setting. The music is often quite stirring, and highlights include "Burgundy Street Blues" (Burbank's feature), "Shake That Thing," "When I Grow Too Old to Dream," "Royal Garden Blues," and "High Society."
