An anthology of contemporary brukdon music, a sound that blends classic calypso rhythms with British and African folk sensibilities. At times, it's close to American coffeehouse music in its song structure and presentation style. The 19 cuts include tunes with intense multiple rhythms, as well as simple numbers with a female lead performing a narrative tune with either symbolic or political story lines (sometimes both). While recorded in Belize, this won't seem as exacting or experimental as many African music anthologies, and fans familiar with the sounds on the Georgia/South Carolina border will find this quite similar.
