A variable compilation with some newish names and some famous ones, it was originally designed to introduce a label now defunct. Some cuts are terrific, notably a fine choro by Paulo Moura. Some are good examples of work by major artists, from de Vila to Gil via Bethania. The much-hyped Obina Shock is more interesting than good (a case of disco-funk fever). The residue is mostly Brazilian supermarket pop.
