AllMusic Review by

Mixing the sounds of bossa nova and samba with jazz and funk, Brazil Boogie showcases the music, often called "Brazil boogie", that resulted. Complex and warm and energetic, the album contains ten songs by nine different artists from both Brazil and the U.S., including Azymuth (who get two tracks, "Dear Limmertz" and "Carambola"), Eumir Deodato ("Skyscrapers"), Banda Black Rio ("Gafeiro Universal"), Bill Summers ("Brazilian Skies"), and Guilherme Vergueiro ("A Sangue Quente"). The compilation's a great way to be introduced to the genre, which borders on Brazilian jazz, fusion, and jazz-funk, without having to become too invested.
