Although bossa nova is one of the more exciting aspects of the Brazilian music scene, Bossa Nova, Vol. 2 is a failed attempt at capturing that energy. The major problem is that the album is recorded live, which means that no matter how good the songs are, the muffled sound and crowd noise take a significant amount of their power away. There is some decent material here, but this is a hard album to recommend without mentioning the poor sound quality. Fans of the genre might still want to check this out, but others will probably find this too lo-fi to enjoy.
