An instigating release from a new singer, Cláudia Pacheco brings extremely swinging sambas with excellent polytonal brass arrangements; dramatic/humorous tango, bolero, old radio tunes, samba canção, doleful songs and other styles. The choice of repertory was excellent, completely disconnected with fashionable trends. Deserve mention Tom Jobim's "Luiza," in a touching alla capella rendition, later joined by a modern piano/sax.
The musicians (among others, Bocato, trombone; Toninho Ferraguti, accordion; Gerson Galante, reeds) and arrangements are excellent, always at the edge of challenging harmonies. The album points convincingly ahead, and opens large avenues, full of possibilities for a sincere, capable, swinging and sensitive singer.
