Not to be confused with the '60s Dynamic release of the same name, Blues Before Sunrise is actually a stellar compilation of some of pianist/vocalist Ray Charles' best early cuts from the '50s through the '60s. This is Charles as postwar piano maverick, often crossing between raw Amos Milburn-style blues tracks and Nat King Cole-inflected jazz ballads. Included here are such rare cuts as "She's on the Ball" and "If I Give You My Love."
