AllMusic Review by

This all-star concert from the 1973 Montreux Jazz Festival features a variety of top swing-oriented players. A septet with trumpeter Freddy Randall, trombonist Dave Hewitt, clarinetist Dave Shepherd and tenor-saxophonist Danny Moss performs "I Surrender Dear" and trumpeter Bil Coleman and Guy Lafitte on tenor romp on a lengthy version of "I Want a Little Girl" and "I Know That You Know." The second side of the LP has the great pianist Teddy Wilson teaming up with clarinetist Shepherd for "Poor Butterfly," violinist Stephane Grappelli jamming "All God's Chillun Got Rhythm," guitarist Barney Kessel featured on "Old Devil Moon" and the duo of Grappelli and Kessel digging into "Tea for Two." This is an enjoyable and consistent program of fine straightahead swing music.
