Philippine singing artists often record remakes of songs that were hits years earlier for other artists, and for 2000's Best of Star OPM Revival, Star Records has compiled 14 such remakes, both Western and Philippine, recorded by various artists signed to the label. Starting things off is a smooth version of the Anita Bryant hit, "Paper Roses," performed here by local female singer Jolina Magdangal, who has an excellent voice. Female singer Jaime Rivera pitches in with a nice version of Eric Carmen's "Love Is All That Matters." Most songs here are tender love songs, a popular style of music in the Philippines, but the songs are distinctive enough so that they do not blur into one another. "When I Met You," for example, sung by male singer Jeffrey Hidalgo, is a pleasant outing, as is "Don't Know What to Do," performed by 92 AD. The latter song is also distinguished by backing vocals sung in a doo wop manner.
