The final of the three volumes in this Sunbeam LP series starts off with four unusual tracks released under the name of Harry Rosenthal's Orchestra. The initial two songs are actually Benny Goodman's band with a string section substituted for the trumpets while the latter two (which have early vocals by Helen Ward) includes some of Goodman's sidemen but not BG himself. After these examples of 1934 dance music, this set picks up momentum with recordings made by Goodman with his orchestra during the period when they were regularly appearing on the Let's Dance radio show, just prior to their signing a major contract with Victor. Although these performances are somewhat obscure, they include Gene Krupa's first appearance with Goodman's working band and find the BG sound gradually developing.
