AllMusic Review by Johnny Loftus

Belial is a New Berlin, WI-based label specializing in the sludgy byproducts of punk, industrial, and experimental indie rock. This entertaining compilation whips all over the sonic map, including within its borders the Dead Milkmen ska of Blasphematics' "If You're Girl Was a Donkey, Would You Still Be in Love?," 1881's mechanistic sex groove, and the electro-damaged art punk of Logan 5. Family Renault's wack noise seems to be some sort of Residents homage, while Missile Command -- besides contributing the meaty Naked Raygun impersonation "Victory at Sea" -- seems to have been the inspiration for the sampler's cover art. Standout honors go to Gals Panic, whose tightly wound goof rock updates both Zappa and Devo. There's also some interesting prog/ambient work from Jeremy Hollister and Samizdat. Recommended as a curiosity.
