AllMusic Review by

Jamaican musicians have long railed against Babylon, their word for the political and social system that holds some people down while allowing others to prosper, and few places in the world have issued as much socially charged pop music. This set from Trojan Records features 17 tracks that take on corruption, racism, and other social inequities with fervor and passion and songs like the Jahlights' "Right Road to Zion," One Love's "The Slave Trade," the Velvet Shadows' "Babylon a Fall Dow," and the Silvertones' galloping "African Dub" all have the power to stir emotions for a new social order. Babylon, at last look, still stands, however, so these songs still have some work to do. Luckily you can dance to them, too.
