This debut CD by Lula Barboza has an expressive singer with strong vocal possibilities paying tribute to the best crooners of the radio tradition in Brazil. Recreating old styles in a modern fashion, Barboza is not ashamed of believing in his ideals, and the result is a sincere production covering classic, immortal hits by the crème of Brazilian composers: José Maria de Abreu, Francisco Alves, Noel Rosa, Lupicínio Rodrigues, Herivelto Martins, Lamartine Babo, and many others. The acoustic renditions don't try to be a mere copy of the tradition, as if it were some stuffed animal. Much on the contrary, the arrangements breathe a new life through modern harmonies and exciting rhythmic attacks in which Barboza is helped by top musicians like Mantiqueira's Naylor "Proveta" Azevedo. The album is also strengthened by the special guests Maria Eugênia and Ivan Lins.
