Keyboardist Glenna Powrie's debut suffers from her weak originals. The performances are spirited and utilize catchy funk rhythms but Powrie's themes are not memorable enough to raise most of this date above the level of pleasant dance music. Pity, because she obvious has talent. Greg Osby (on alto and soprano) takes some surprisingly melodic solos and the backup crew (which includes guitarist Kevin Eubanks) is impressive. But fusion does not succeed without strong melodies.
