Originally released in extremely limited quantities on vinyl and cassette, the debut album from Northern Californian ambient black metal band Ash Borer quickly sold out and paved the way for their highly acclaimed 2012 follow-up Cold of Ages. The 2013 reissue finds the album more widely distributed and makes more readily available the band's earliest recordings. The self-titled album consists of three elongated compositions, melding vitriolic black metal speeds with more innovative explorations of the genre, putting them in league with contemporaries like Liturgy.
