This 1994 recording features a likable but very conventional stage band from Southern California. The musicianship is excellent, the solos are fine, and the arrangements (mostly by bandmembers) are swinging and colorful at times. However no real surprises occur (except for the employment of a so-so male vocalist on three numbers) and none of the soloists seem destined for major careers in jazz. Fans of modern swinging big bands (the type of music extensively documented by the Sea Breeze label) will enjoy this group, but this CD is far from essential.
