Archive brings together a total of nine live performances by British blues rocker John Mayall. Several of the inclusions clock over ten minutes in length as Mayall often leads his band off on some unexpected tangents. This is the most captivating aspect of Archive, certainly more captivating than the at times frustrating sound quality and the album's somewhat haphazardly assembled feel. Mayall fans should find this a nice addition to their collection, though it's by no means essential or definitive -- it's mostly something for fanatical completists to seek out. Plus, it's not exactly readily available, giving you yet another reason to look elsewhere first.
