The quartet gives stirring, enthusiastic renditions of then-contemporary songs by Joni Mitchell,Gordon Lightfoot, Ian Tyson, Leonard Cohen, et al., all resplendent in beautiful harmonies and full-bodied leads. Don't be fooled by the stage shot on the cover, however -- this is a studio recording, though it's certainly not lacking in bold immediacy and energy. Those with strong emotional ties to Canada, or a special interest in '60s folk music, or who simply appreciate the brand of three- and four-voice folk performances of the Weavers or -- perhaps more on target -- the Seekers will probably love this CD, and no one with any inclinations in those directions will resent any part of it.
