A reworking of their debut recording, Animal Beat, this hasty collection of live tracks, re-recordings, and two new songs shouldn't be as much fun as it is. The live versions of "Hard Life" and "Animal Beat" give a brief indication of the energy of early Lä-Ppisch gigs. The remake of "Shuhakimaseri" keeps the arrangement, but is much tighter -- Tatsu's bass is more fluid, and Sugimoto's guitar broadens the scope of the sound. "One Two Ska," a new track, ambles along with a classic horn riff, and the most excellent "Party," another in Lä-Ppisch's amalgams of folk instrumentation and slow skank, with Toshihiro Nakanishi providing the violin riff. A solid sextet of ska and beyond.
