With their use of droney, melodic vocals and a ton of overlapping guitars that don't shy away from the reverb pedal, East River Pipe could easily be placed into the space rock category. But since you can actually hear what the vocalist is singing on top of their lack of a ten-minute impromptu jam, both "Ah, Dictaphone" and "Hide My Life Away From You" contain more of a pop edge -- especially with the latter resembling an Afghan Wigs influence. Has East River Pipe developed a new genre that could be classified as "space pop"? They're probably not the first, but they do a pretty good job crafting this sound.
