AllMusic Review by

Congolese singer Koffi Olomide is a larger than life character in African music. Going by a host of names, including Large Degaires, Akram Bourge, Mokonzi, and at least a dozen others, Olomide's topical and personal approach to soukous has earned him a large audience, and his fiery outspokenness has drawn at least as many musical foes as friends. This varied set makes a nice introduction to the controversial Olomide, including sides like the sultry "Dulcinée," the sparkling "Dieu Voit Tout," and the jazzy ballad "Effervescent."
